I'm gutted.

Truly I'm gutted. The UK has voted to leave the EU. I know some of you may have voted to leave here in the UK, and that is your democratic right. Personally, this is just another step towards a more uncertain and unstable world. I have no words, so here is some music. This year seems to have been surrounded by dark clouds, casting a shadow personally and publicly. This song was born of that darkness.

Escaping the insanity...
image.jpg

What with today being a pretty big day here in the UK, the long suffering Jez and I have escaped to the 'home studio' (ie: my place, after voting of course) to work on some new material. Keep a look out, there's something coming very soon...

Democracy and the dark.

This morning when I woke up, the world was a little darker. Not because of the weather (typical 'English summer'), but because of the racism and hate we as a society have seen venomously thrown around by the press and politicians. To me, we have reached breaking point. The death of Labour MP Jo Cox was that unfortunate point. Words cannot describe the sadness felt by those of us who never knew her, or even knew who she was. Those of us who are also parents felt the pain of her children, the loss of a young mother but also someone who actually fought for the good. It was for that 'good' that she lost her life.

I've expressed my embarrassment and shame at the rhetoric of this wretched EU Referendum many times. Personally in this interconnected world we live in, we as a country would be stupid to leave. But scratch the surface of any society and there lies the darkness. In our case the beast that many facist campaigners here in the UK have nurtured and reared has finally grown into an untameable force for evil.

Enough.

I have no tolerance for this dangerous idiocy. No amount of posting on social media will help stem this flow. Whatever your views on whether we should stay or leave, I ask you as a human being to give a little kindness and thought to others, those next door, down the street, at school/college etc. Come together and show unity in this fight. Come on UK, we are so much better than this.

We had a great night on Saturday performing at St. Peter's Church in Old Woking. Such a special event, a beautiful atmosphere with some amazing music. I would put that up there with The British Musuem gig!

I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the artists who played on Saturday night! Fifth Floor, Nick Tann & Jonas and Jane you were all fabulous! I'd also like to thank Jonathan, Vicar at St Peter's Church, for letting us use the church, my long suffering friend Ian for helping me run the night, and to all of you who came and supported our night! We've raised £187.50 for Crisis!

Thanks to Tom at Tomodo Photography for this great photo, and Sarah Longes - Mirador Design for her photos too.

If you couldn't make it you can watch my performance for a limited time here:
