It's a double whammy in Oxford this weekend, kicking off this Friday (3rd Oct) at the 'Festival of Ancient Tales' 3.15-7pm at the East Oxford Community Classics Centre at Cheney School. This event is FREE and features Carol Ann Duffy, Tom Holland and the wonderful Caroline Lawrence. If you're around (and have children, they would love it) then do come along. It looks spectacular. I'll be performing every half hour or so on rotation throughout the event between talks in the reception area, talking about the songs and the inspiration behind them. For more details:

On the Saturday (4th Oct) I'll be supporting John Wheeler from Hayseed Dixie at The Cellar in Oxford. Tickets can be purchased from here:

Hi folks,
Now that the gig season is calming down I thought it might be time to give you an update on 'camp Neale'.
I've had a lot of people ask me at recent gigs about new recordings. I am planning, at some point, to release an EP. However the demands of two little ones, ill health, a PhD proposal, general teaching and gigging have rather put the brakes on my creativity at the moment, and while I am writing slowly, I've only come up with one or two songs which I feel will match or bring anything to what I've already done with 'River Man'. I'm hoping to stretch my creative wings a bit by doing some co writing and working on projects completely different from what I do. I guess what I'm saying here is bare with me.....
On another important note, you may notice that the sound of the title track of 'River Man' changes slightly over the next week or so. The song as it stands uses a three second sample of 'The Dreaming' by Kate Bush, and while Jez and I did look into getting clearance for the track at the time in 2012, we weren't able to identify who it was we were meant to speak to (thanks to some misadvise on the phone from EMI publishing at the time.). Thanks to some now well placed friends in the industry I've manged to email and submit the relevant forms but there are some pretty heftily restrictions in place IF we get clearance. I really don't want to annoy or upset anyone here so the sample has been removed. The track and album are currently being remastered by the wonderful Dave Blackman. The change isn't that noticeable but for my piece of mind, it's worth it. I hope you all still enjoy it and it's meaning the same.

Tonight I'm playing as part of a special show at Roadtrip and The Workshop on Old Street in London, supporting Australian Country Artist Aleyce Simmonds. Also on the bill are up and coming singer songwriter Fable (who Russ and Paul are working with) and Tom Bem. Entrance is free (a rarity for London) so come along for a great night of free entertainment and talent!
A slightly manic weekend (and week)! Kick started yesterday with a gig at wonderful Sound Lounge at Merton Abbey Mills for their 'Music and Marshmallows' night. A fab night as always guys, thank you!
Today I'm playing at the Woking Food Festival at 1.30pm in Gloucester Square and 2pm at Commercial Way. It's always a busy event full of amazing food and free demonstrations by top chefs (which as someone who would quality for 'diasterchef' I'm not sure means that much to me but hubby enjoys it!). The Phoenix Culture Centre are staging the music events again this year so a huge thank you to Eliane and co!
This evening I'll be playing at the launch of Graham Steels music company at the South Hill Park Arts Centre in the Atrium at 7pm. Phew! And it's not over yet! Big show on Wednesday in London which I'll save for tomorrow's post.....

Hi all,
I'm so, so pleased to announce that I'm going to be featured as a full page advertorial in the BASCA magazine in two weeks time! This is all thanks to an opportunity that I applied for through the musical networking site 'Music Gateway' and I'm stoked! If you're a member of BASCA keep your eyes out for it. Hopefully it'll direct more people to 'River Man' and all the hard work that my 'team' of fabulous musicians, photographer John, producer Jez and I have put in. Made my week!

I'm very pleased to announce that tonight I'll be guesting with the very wonderful Ukejam at The Boileroom for the launch party of the Guildford Fringe Festival! And if that wasn't enough we'll be raising money for Phil Mitchell who's about to embark on a trip for Mission Rabies. It's free so come on down for one of the biggest parties of the year!
I've had word that some of you are having trouble with the free You Bloom download on Bandcamp (In that Bandcamp are not issuing the code on the download - tech eh?). So here's a bunch of them!
Enjoy!
